Question

Answer

My CD will only play in my computer.  It will not play in my CD player. Why?

All CD sold by OTRCHUCK are recorded in MP3 format.  First let me explain a few things.  MP3 Format is a means of compressing data to get more music, stories or shows on one CD.  A normal CD can only hold 2 30 minute (with a little left over)  programs/shows if recorded in WAV (audio format) whereas the same CD will hold as many as 100 30 minute programs in MP3 format.  This makes MP3 recording much more economical.

This does not mean that you cannot use these shows away from your computer. There are still ways you can make use of these programs I will explain below.

1. Portable CD Players that play MP3 are available for $60 to $100 in Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Circuit City, Radio Shack....Most of these CD player have an adapter to  connect to a Cassette player allowing MP3 programs to be enjoyed over a home entertainment system, while in your car, or over a Boom Box.  The  investment made  in the MP3 player will be returned very quickly.

2. Boom Boxes are also available with MP3 capability in the $70.00. to $100.00 price range.

3. DVD/CD/MP3 player for your home entertainment center are also available for around $70.00

4. Rechargeable players are making a big splash on the market.  These devices are about the size of cigarette pack and can be loaded from your computer USB jack.  The amount of storage varies by the price.  Wal-Mart sell one with 128Meg Memory for around $90.00.  It will store around 20 shows and plays back to a headset of cassette adapter.  Players with 10Gig cost around around $250.00.  Of course they can be used for music also.

Hint:  Always look for MP3 capability on anything when buying audio equipment.

5. Here is the fun one I use it very often.  Buy cheap CD convert the MP3 to WAV and play it in a standard player. If you have a fairly fast burner it only takes a few minutes to make an Audio CD

Here's how download a free MP3 to WAV converter from  http://ec2000.xperiment.net/index.php?id=software convert your programs to WAV and burn to CD.  If you don't have a CD burner they are real cheap now and lots of fun.

To play MP3 over your home entertainment center you can can  buy a CD/DVD/MP3 player for less than $80.00.

If you want a boom box. K-Mart has them with MP3 Capability for around $90.00.

WalMart , Target, and all your big stores have portable CD players with an adapter to play MP3 in your car cassette player.

The newest thing on the market, is a small electronic device about the size of a cigarette pack.  You can download from 10 to 20 MP3 formatted shows to this device.  When finished you can erase and reload.  I saw them in Wal-Mart for around $80.00

How can I play MP3 CDs in a standard CD player?

You can't unless you convert the MP3 formatted program into and Audio format such as WAV. There are several software programs available for download that will allow you to convert from MP3 to WAV.  Once you have converted the program to WAV you can write it to a CD. You will only be able to get two thirty minute on a CD. The Program I use MPEG 2001, is free and can be downloaded from:  http://ec2000.xperiment.net/
